Healthy Shamrock Shake (Dairy Free)

About the Recipe:

Shamrock shake but made with healthy wholesome ingredients :) This is super simple and such a yummy treat, especially with homemade coconut whipped cream! Replace the processed, high sugar, artificial colorings in the McDonalds shamrock shake, and make this instead.

Tips and Tricks:

Protein Powder: I like to use a vanilla protein powder, and blend it in once all the ingredients are throughly blended. This helps the shake from becoming too “fluffy.”

Toppings: Use your favorites to mix into this recipe. I love using a GF chocolate cookie (which makes it taste like mint cookies and cream), or dark chocolate shavings, or another favorite is blending in cacao nibs.

Peppermint extract: I personally love a minty shake, so I add in extra peppermint extract, along with fresh mint leaves. You don’t have to add this, but I like to use it to enhance the mint flavor!

Key players:

This smoothie has fiber, fat, probiotics and protein to make it a well rounded, balanced smoothie. It also has mint, which is a great herbal for gut health and digestion. It’s got all the goods!

Shamrock shake, but made with healthy, wholesome balanced ingredients. Skip the high sugar, processed ingredients and artificial colors found in most shamrock shake. This recipe is also GF and DF!

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 big handfuls of spinach
  • 3 bananas
  • 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt (I used Yoggu)
  • fresh mint leaves ~2 T
  • 1T hemp seeds
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1 scoop vanilla collagen or protein powder
  • Optional- throw in some chocolate cookie crumbs, cacao nibs or dark chocolate shavings. I also topped with some homemade vanilla coconut whip

Instructions

Instructions
  1. In a high powered blender, blend spinach, banana, hemp hearts, mint, peppermint extract, coconut yogurt and coconut milk together.
  2. Once thoroughly blended and smooth, add Vanilla Protein powder. Add chocolate cookies, or other optional toppings and blend for a couple seconds.
  3. Top with coconut whipped cream and more chocolate if desired!
  4. Sip and enjoy!

Notes

Homemade coconut whipped cream: Coconut whipped cream is super easy. Place a coconut cream can in the fridge overnight. Scoop out the cream (leave the liquid behind) and use a hand mixer to whip the cream for about a minute. Add vanilla extract or bean powder, and ~15 drops of vanilla liquid stevia. Whip for another minute and chill.
